Crashing Issues
- Game crashes can be caused by a damaged game install. Try redownloading the game or verifying your game files through Steam.
- If you haven't recently, updating or reinstalling your video card drivers might help some crashing issues.
-
In some cases damaged system or DirectX files can cause crashes.
For Windows: Info about scanning and repairing system files is available here. - If the game is still crashing, send us an output log file and any info about what you did before the crash.
Troubleshooting Networking Issues
If you are having issues connecting either at game start or during gameplay you can try some of the following steps to help resolving the issue.- Verify that your firewall / anti-virus software is not blocking the game. Try temporarily disabling it.
- Third party networking software such as Hamachi can cause issues. Try uninstalling / disabling this software.
- Make sure your router's firmware is up to date
- Sometimes restarting your router / networking gear can help
- If you are using Steam: Try verifying the game cache
- If you downloaded the game directly: Redownload the game
- Make sure the following network ports are not blocked and are being properly routed.
- UDP ports 27000 - 27003
- TCP ports 4530-4532
- TCP port 843
- TCP port 4520
Tips for Improving Performance
- If you have a dedicated graphics card, ensure the game is using it. You can look at the top of your output log and you should see it list what graphics device the game is using. Check the control panel of your graphics card manufacturer to ensure it it set to max performance in gaming for PULSAR.
- Setting the graphics quality to Low or Lowest can increase the frame-rate at the cost of some lighting quality.
- Disabling post-processing effects (SMAA, SSAO, Bloom, Sun Shafts) will reduce GPU load
- Lower the game resolution. This will put less load on your GPU potentially increasing the frame rate.
- Lowering the FOV setting can slightly help performance
- Turn off Vsync. Vsync can drastically lower the frame rate as it attempts to sync the rendered and displayed frames.
- Check RAM usage, and VRAM usage. If too high perhaps tweak some settings or try to close background programs.
- Sometimes anti-virus programs can lower performance if real-time scanning is enabled.
- Turn off any power-saving features of your OS when gaming to increase the CPU frequencies and performance in certain situations.
- If using a laptop, ensure that it isn't throttling the CPU or GPU due to high temperatures. We've seen many laptops that heat up quickly when gaming and drastically reduce the framerate of games to cool itself off. Limiting your framerate in the video settings menu could potentially prevent this.
- If you are using an SLI or Crossfire setup, disable it when playing PULSAR. These are not supported.
- If you are still having performance issues and meet the minimum specifications then let us know at team@leafygames.com.
